I was invited today to present two Free software projects: GNOME and Fedora at UPIG (Universidad Peruana de Integración Global). They celebrated the event during the whole week the “Engineering Week”. This was the advertisement they used to announce the workshop that last two hours. It was offered free admission with certification fee of s/.25.
The computers of the labs in the university had Windows installed and it was only allowed to install virtual box with a local iso during the workshop. The computers did not have neither permission to read DVDs. So, I did an introduction to the projects that these students have not heard before at all.
I did what I usually do during my workshops such as prizing people when they respond questions of what I have already explained, photo of the entire group and playing with Fedora and GNOME balloons. They somehow get engaged and ask me to give more links related to the Linux history as well the contributions on these projects.
Thank you so much for organizing this event and for helping us to spread the Linux word in universities in Lima, Peru. Thanks Lizbeth Lucar and Solanch Casas.
This is not going to be my last presentation in Lima to spread the GNOME and FEDORA word. I have previously arranged a couple of more presentations at universities such as UNTELS and UNMSM. Let’s expected more attendances next time, after final exams 😉
