Last night I introduced newcomers into the FEDORA and GNOME world. Thanks to Azul Cusicollur for arrangement the meeting at the UTP (University Technological of Peru). There was announced that only 40 seats are available for lab and then we have guests from different universities.
The journey had lasted almost seven hours in a raw, since we officially started around 11:00 p.m., then during the first two hours, I had talked about the Fundamental of Linux, the FEDORA project and the GNOME project.
Another picture from different angle:
As usual, I applied the methodology to prize students wherever they answer my questions during my talk, with stickers, pins and lots of pictures 🙂
As well many FEDORA stickers to everyone at the workshop:
After that, since you do not love what you do not know, we ‘ve decided to see the Revolution of Operating System movie and you can see some pictures here: At the back people were not able to see clearly the projection, then they followed the movie in a mute mode since their own seats.
The movie ended around 3:00 am and the majority stayed awake until the band with the FREE SOFTWARE song had played (8) Join us and share the software, you will be free (8) 😀
I ‘ve said the “majority” because some could not resist the Friday overnight (it seems that he had a busy week)
Finally the FEDORA and the JHBUILD workshop took place and here are some pictures where you can see the effort of the UTP local students
UPC (University Peruvian of Science) students also made it:
As well some students of University of Villareal in Lima:
Thanks again Azul for doing a great job at Hack Space UTP this year!
The rewarding story from this overnight experience is that a student called Magno Grande did the job during the next day, trying and trying at the morning at UTP, and later he continued at his home until he finally got the idea. He sent me some pictures of his job 🙂
And he did it by using Java this time :
