After 28 hours of traveling and getting my room on August 1st, I was ready to celebrate the GUADEC2013 at 7:00 a.m.
It was glad to see many familiar faces this year, people who still do contributions in order to improve the project we love. Our project has future!…and many great ideas will become real!
Ideas that include a new file called “applications” that will let you the access for many different GNOME applications; developing touch interfaces for interaction, recognizing faces using Shotwell, F-spot and so on… all these amazing things will be possible because of the participation of guys from OPW and GSoC programs. Today, the 4th day they explained what they did and also they did so well 🙂
I am so glad also that the picture of our dinner: the GNOME Women dinner needed a panoramic view feature from the camera because our group grew up. I hope many other women can join us next rounds. This dinner was sponsored by a Red Hat. Thanks to Tyler, Marina and Karen for the effort they did to make it.
When you are involved in a worldwide Linux project like GNOME, you have the opportunity to meet cultures trough people and their customs. OK, you can read a book about history of any country, but it is so exciting when you learn with all your own senses, with GNOME friends. This guadec gave us a tourist guide, also sponsored by Red Hat 😀
What I take from this @guadec are the tweets in big screens, 3d printer, the rubber duck, spinning chairs, couple of glasses of water every hour, different accents, dumplings and Czech potatoes and of course the GNOME love for so many contributors around the world.
Thanks GNOME again for this experience. Red Hat, Mozilla, Google and all the projects that made GUADEC be possible, I will work harder documenting and promoting the use of our product!
