SETEIS was the first IT conference where I presented FEDORA and GNOME this 2017. The event was held at UNTELS, university located south of Lima. The System Engineering School have celebrated one more anniversary of its existence.
A wide range of topics were presented during the symposium such as Software Engineering, Computational Security, Bioinformatics and Linux.
This time I did a talk in the auditorium where only a few students ( I could say 5) were aware of what Linux is. I realized of this because I usually do questions while I am doing an introduction to Linux. Then I pointed out the importance of Linux in IT and research.
After that, I presented the FEDORA and the GNOME project, how and why they were created and the community that currently support these projects. I do prize with stickers, DVD and ballons of the projects in order to get attention and motivation about I am saying. I also gave an overview of the GSoC that will start in April 2017.
