It is well-known for some people that my heart, head and soul belong to both, the GNOME and FEDORA project, and anytime I have the opportunity to talk about Linux, I bring these ones to the table. So, thanks to the organizers of the event SEISCO 2016 for letting me share more about them!
I did three talks (almost three hours in a raw), the first one related to FEDORA called “FEDORA 25, un software totalmente Libre”, were I explained what is FEDORA, the relationship with Red Hat, how to join the community and how I met FEDORA through the inspirational Jiri Eischman job at Republic Czech and my contribution so far.
Then, I have talked about “GNOME 22, usabilidad y aplicaciones”, which also included the presentation of the GNOME community, newcomers, how my mentor Phil Bull guided me nicely since the very beginning, GUADECs, Hackfests, the Outreachy program, my contribution and how to contribute by building the code with JHBUILD.
Suddenly, something that has not happened to me before occurred… they claimed to repeat the FEDORA talk again in order to know about it! From around 35 students, almost the quarter have heard about Linux and 4 or 5 use Ubuntu, and only one guy use Red Hat.
