After arriving to Lima I shared with family, friends, students and IBM partners what I lived and learned from the @guadec in Brno, Czech Republic. It was so great to see the joyness in their faces when they received the stickers, pens and t shirts that I gave them as a gift, we have to say Thanks “RED HAT”. I did not expect that the IT Specialist Windows team in IBM put their laptops the Linux stickers and started to post it on Facebook. This picture belongs to Carlos Montoya, IT Specialist with international certifications Windows Entreprise 2008 and Vmware 4.
I must also say that I was a little disappointed with myself because this year I was for the third year in a row the unique woman peruvian again in the GUADEC event.
I did many conferences and install fests, and I realize that I can get many people install linux in their laptops but after that, they do not continue with because they find troubles with installation of components like Flash and also a background of basic administration of linux is needed, so time, effort versus security is what I have chosen, but maybe is not the same situation for many other people.
In the other hand, I see potential contributors in my city, most of then are students; so I decide this time not to do a talk about GNOME, I will do this time something that Marina did in guadec: I will do a workshop for Newcomers Workshops in INFOSOFT PUCP.
During the Hackfest of Documentation I refreshed my memory and skills about the topic oriented tool: Mallard and the Git committing style was in my hand again. So I will also give a talk about them in INFOSOFT too!
