The Ada Initiative

There is an event called The AdaCamp that is only focus in promoting girls to get involved with Technology. It is very interesting because there are a few girls that are interested in this field, specially if we are talking about Open Source projects and Free Software Culture.

I want to go to this event to share and meet other girls that like the same things I do, but even if I can’t, this event has been very inspirational for me!

*  A group of guys in my country (I live in Lima, Peru) made a plan based on this event.  We are planning an event called The Linux Camp 2012, this event is focused basically in the celebration of the new GNOME release: 3.4 and Ubuntu 12.04.

We identify at least two girls in each community of Free Software, so we are going to promote integration and some kind of guidance to start working in projects directly related to GNOME and Ubuntu. We know if all the participants test GNOME 3.4 over ubuntu 12.04 and interact with other technologies like MySQL, Python, Joomla, Drupal, and other projects, they can identify bugs or maybe they can fix them, yay! that would be so great! … one or ten bugs solved in our Camp hehe..

… Okey this picture shows two activate contributors GNOME girls in my country🙂
