8th Report OPW: The common problems of Cheese

Before all else, I want to share two more pieces of advice I learned during my git and mallard experiences:

1. If you have many files inside any other, for example files with png extensions into a ‘effects’ file, add tree files doing: git add effects/\*.png

2. I was passing my draft writing from libreoffice to a *.page, and I got this red labels.

The problem was solved using the right symbol ‘ ” ‘

Now, I will show you how to add topics inside the common problems Cheese topic, doing a review of all the steps I mentioned in some posts before:

* Check if you have the permission

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ git branch
* master

* Create the new topic with yelp-new task:

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ yelp-new task closed "Cheese automatically gets closed"

* Edit the content of the file. In this case I only show the link type command, because it lets you link this new topic ‘closed’ to the older topic ‘problems’.

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ gedit closed.page
  <info>
    <revision version="0.1" date="2011-07-24" status="stub"/>
    <link type="guide" xref="index#problems"/>

* Remember always validate your job

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ yelp-check validate closed.page
[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$

* Upload the file to server git

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ git add closed.page

* Now, verify how the new topic in the user view, doing yelp .

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ yelp .

* The final look for this topic:

* It looks good for me, so I will do the respective commit and push🙂

[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ git commit -a[master 5e9f713] Adding a file for the common problems of Cheese. 1 files changed, 59 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) create mode 100644 closed.page[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$ git push origin masterCounting objects: 4, done.Delta compression using up to 4 threads.Compressing objects: 100% (3/3), done.Writing objects: 100% (3/3), 1.69 KiB, done.Total 3 (delta 1), reused 0 (delta 0)=> Syncing Gitorious... [OK]To git@gitorious.org:cheese-docs/cheese-docs.git   4a66be8..5e9f713  master -> master[yulys@yulys cheese-docs]$

NOTE

I found the rbga support as part of the solution in more than one link in forums, but I tried in my two Toshiba laptops (Ubuntu 10.10 and Fedora 15)without success. I mean, I didn’t find the script  /etc/profile.d/gtkrgba.sh netiher /etc/profile.d/gtkr_gba.sh.  But, I also found this to add the package https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopTeam/RgbaGtkWithPPA?action=fullsearch&context=180&value=rgba&titlesearch=Titles. I will try tomorrow in more desktop computers.

In total, I found there are more than 150 plugins that Cheese use:  http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/plugins.html

I will mention in the ‘help’ only the most common ones to solve problems of sound, video, effects in Cheese. Plugins like v4l, v4l2, gstreamer-0.10 and clutter-gst-1.0.
