Almost ready in Fedora 15

I was trying to install all the package that I need to start to work…

I did successfully install java and its Netbeans IDE 6.9.3 doing:

[yulys@yulys ~]$ cd /usr/bin
[yulys@yulys bin]$ ls java*
java java2html javac javadoc javah javap javaws

[root@yulys jvm]# yum install netbeans

I also installed video downloadHelper “mozilla plug” to download videos from youtube in my lap… I did it all without any problem; but, I can’t see my video. I have problems with the H.264 decoder package =(

even I did all the possibles ‘yum installs’ and ‘yum search  x264 codec’:

  1. Since h.263 is non-free you need to get the codecs from a 3rd party repo.
RPMFusion is the recommended repos –

  2. bmb says:

    i’d install ubuntu instead

  3. JEO says:

I guess you’ll have to enable rpmfusion repo for H.264 support:
then enable the repo and enjoy.

  4. Visit us at I have been helped there more than a few times (over a hundred times actually – on Linux-related questions.

  5. nosedibujar says:

instala el repositorio rpmfusion (, después instala los siguientes paquetes:

    yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-free gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-ugly

con esto podrás reproducir una gran cantidad de formatos de video y audio. Espero te sirva, un saludo.

John: I appreciate your help, it was right; but too general | bmb: I like some challenges hehe | JEO: you are so right! It would have been great if you were written step by step how to enable the repo | nosedibujar: saciaste mi sed de conocimiento y angustia, x fin veo mis videos favoritos, love UU

    * In total, the solution was:
    1. Install
    2. yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-free gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-extras gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-ugly

    Try this:
It’s a simple, graphical script to install and configure some useful applications and driver. Audi/video codecs included.
